The Saline County Department of Human Services provides various services, including:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP): Formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, SNAP offers food assistance to eligible households to cover a portion of their food budget. Benefits are distributed through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. SNAP recipients can use these benefits to purchase eligible food items for home consumption, including seeds and plants that produce food. Farmers markets and eligible retailers accept SNAP benefits. The program also provides nutrition education, employment and training opportunities, and work experience in some cases. Starting July 1, 2023, the SNAP Time Limit Rules will resume.
  • SNAP Employment and Training (E&T) Program: Designed to promote self-sufficiency through employment, the E&T program assists eligible SNAP participants in gaining knowledge and skills necessary for obtaining and maintaining employment. Participants can engage in work programs, education, and training activities such as GED and basic skills education, English as a Second Language, apprenticeship, and internship training programs. The SNAP E&T program is available in all 75 counties.

If you’re a SNAP recipient interested in gaining new skills or participating in educational or training programs, simply inform your DHS eligibility worker or reach out to one of the E&T providers listed here. Additionally, the SNAP program supports local farmers’ markets and offers the Double Up Food Bucks initiative to enhance food access for SNAP recipients. Remember that these services aim to improve the lives of Arkansans in need.
