The Summit County Department of Human Services Office in Colorado can be contacted at (970) 668-9160 for questions or more information about food assistance, medical, and financial assistance. You can also apply for food assistance, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), online using the Colorado PEAK website or the MyCOBenefits app. You can also bring a completed application to your scheduled appointment at the office. 

To expedite the processing of your application, you can bring the following documents to the office:

  • Proof of identity, such as a driver’s license, ID card, resident card, or U.S. passport
  • Proof of citizenship, such as a U.S. passport, birth certificate, or Permanent Resident Card
  • Social Security numbers for all household members
  • Proof of income, such as pay stubs or a letter from your employer 

You will need to have an initial interview to determine your eligibility for SNAP benefits. SNAP benefits cannot be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco, prepared hot foods or meals, or non-food items.
