Medicaid provides health care services to individuals that meet requirements for income, resources and citizenship. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, helps low-income people buy food. Welfare program give assistance to those who have little or no income. Individuals may apply for Medicaid, Food Stamp or Welfare benefits at any local Medicaid – Food Stamp – Welfare office, by mail, telephone, fax, e-mail, or at designated agencies.
