My Granddaughter and her two month old daughter are on Medicaid in Greenville South Carolina. They will be temporarily living with me in Lewes Delaware from May 2018 to October 2018 while my Granddaughter attends school. They will return to Greenville, SC in October.
Do they continue on Medicaid Greenville, SC or must they close that and apply Medicaid Delaware?
While your Granddaughter is with you in Delaware she will need to re-apply for Medicaid in your state as each state has its own set of eligibility requirements. Medicaid benefits do not transfer when you relocate to another state. Also she cannot receive Medicaid benefits in two states at the same time, which means that she will first need to close her SC Medicaid benefits in her originating state before applying for Medicaid benefits in your state of Delaware.
