I WAS TURNED DOWN FOR ADDITIONAL MEDICAID, WHY?

medicaid_questionQ) I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING MEDICAID FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS. I HAVE MS AND AM QUITE HANDICAPPED. I WAS RECENTLY TURNED DOWN FOR ADDITIONAL MEDICAID AND I DON’T KNOW WHY. I TRIED CONTACTING BCBSS BUT THEY NEVER RETURN MY CALL WHICH HAS BEEN 4 TIMES. I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

A) I understand that you are frustrated with the BCBSS and that you are worried about your health insurance. I want to assure you that there are people who can help you.

Here are some things you can do:

  1. Keep trying to contact BCBSS. I know you have tried to contact BCBSS four times, but please keep trying. You may need to call at different times of day or on different days of the week to get through.
  2. Contact your local Medicaid office. Your local Medicaid office may be able to help you understand why you were denied additional Medicaid and what you can do next.
  3. Contact a legal aid organization. A legal aid organization may be able to help you appeal the decision to deny you additional Medicaid.
  4. Contact your state’s insurance department. Your state’s insurance department may be able to help you understand your rights under the law and what you can do if you have been denied health insurance.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
