Services at Clarendon AR Medicaid – Food Stamp – Welfare Office

The Clarendon AR Medicaid – Food Stamp – Welfare Office provides a range of services to eligible individuals and families.

Health Care Services: The office provides health care services through Medicaid, ARKids, TEFRA, and other categories of Medicaid. Medicaid covers health care for low-income people, including nursing home care for individuals who meet both medical needs and financial criteria. This is referred to as Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS). Additionally, ARChoices in Home Care provides services such as attendant care, home-delivered meals, personal emergency response systems, adult day services, and respite care. Independent Choices is similar to ARChoices in Home Care, but the client is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising his or her in-home workers.

Food Assistance: The office also provides food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program. SNAP provides food assistance to eligible households to cover a portion of a household’s food budget. Benefits are distributed through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, and can be used to purchase eligible food items for home consumption.

Welfare Programs: Welfare programs, such as the Transitional Employment Assistance (TEA) program, provide cash and other supports to those who have little or no income.

Applications for most of these public assistance programs can be made online at Access.Arkansas.gov. For LTSS, an application needs to be filled out and submitted along with any other needed documents to the local county office.
