Services:
Medicaid provides health care for low-income individuals.
(SNAP), which helps low-income families buy food.
(TANF), provide assistance to those with little to no income.

The Office of Family Independence (OFI) in Hart County, Georgia can be contacted at (877) 423-4746 for questions about food stamps, Medicaid, and TANF. The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) also has a statewide toll-free number for these inquiries at (877) 423-4746, which is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM–4 PM. Self-service is available 24 hours a day.

Individuals can also apply for Medicaid in person at the local DFCS office, health department, or Social Security office. Applications can also be submitted online at gateway.ga.gov, or by requesting forms to be mailed. 

Some may be eligible for Medicaid if their income is low and they meet one of the following descriptions:

  • Pregnant
  • Child or teenager
  • Age 65 or older
  • Legally blind
  • Have a disability
  • Need nursing home care
