Im needing to find out why my pharmacy at CVS in Marion Illinois is saying my medicine isn’t covered by my medical card through Williamson county Illinois dhs office.

A) I’m sorry to hear that your medicine is not covered by your medical card. There could be several reasons for this, such as:

  • Your medicine is not on the list of covered drugs by your medical plan. You can check the list of covered drugs by visiting the website of your health plan or calling the toll-free number printed on the back of your health plan card.
  • Your medicine requires prior authorization, step therapy, or quantity limits by your medical plan. These are some of the ways that your plan ensures that you get the right drug at the right dose for the right duration. You can find out more about these requirements by visiting the website of your health plan or calling the toll-free number printed on the back of your health plan card.
  • Your medicine is not covered by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), which administers the medical card program. HFS has a list of preferred drugs that are covered by the medical card, and some drugs may require prior approval by HFS before they can be dispensed. You can check the list of preferred drugs and prior approval criteria by visiting [HFS Pharmacy] or calling 1-877-782-5565.
  • Your eligibility for medical benefits has changed or expired. You can check your eligibility status by calling 1-855-828-4995 or visiting [ABE.Illinois.gov]. You can also contact your caseworker at DHS 1-800-843-6154 or HFS 1-800-226-0768 (TTY 1-877-204-1012) to update your information or ask any questions about your medical coverage.

I hope this information helps you find out why your medicine is not covered by your medical card. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me. I’m here to help .
