Rensselaer County office couldn’t read my bank statement

Q) HI My name is Ariel. I need help. I applied food stamps on 10/25/21 and received a letter on 11/16/21 from Rensselaer County Food Stamps within 3 weeks advising that the Rensselaer County office couldn’t read my bank statement. On 11/19/21, I sent a copy of my bank statement to the following email address at food stamps: dfa4a38.sm.rcdss.sn@dfa.state.ny.us. I received an email confirmation that the email was received on 11/19/21 at 1:53 pm.

I called back checking the status of my food stamp application on 12/16/21 and was advised that the person (dfa4a38.sm.rcdss.sn@dfa.state.ny.us) never did anything with my paperwork so I was asked to resend my bank statement which I did. I called Food stamps again and spoke with Demi. She advised me to resend my bank statement to the following email: dfa4a38.sm.rcdss.sn@dfa.state.ny. us , which I did. I was advised that my bank statement and was put in a bin and was waiting to be worked on as Rensselaer County staff was short on workers. I called again on 1/7/22 checking the status of my food stamp application and was told that my case was still being worked on . I called again today and was told that I now need to re apply as they couldn’t find my paperwork. I have a copy of all the emails that I sent to Food stamps. This is so frustrating for me. Please help .

It is very unfortunate that your application have been lost but with the current pandemic; with people being off work due to illness from the virus it is possible the your application may been passed around and fell in the cracks. You also stated that your were told “I was advised that my bank statement and was put in a bin and was waiting to be worked on as Rensselaer County staff was short on workers.”

You may need to re-apply or visit the social service office and speak with a supervisor regarding your application.

3 Responses to I applied for SNAP and Medicaid almost a month ago

  1. Yesterday I was on hold for 55 minutes trying to apply for food stamps. All to be hung up on it was 4pm and they get off 430 that was pretty rude. So I called back and waited 10 minutes to make a appointment for today and they said they would call me at 1030 today and it’s going on 11AM now and still no call. Maybe you guys shouldn’t have the program if you can’t run right. The girl name was Tabby she was very rude.
