Q) I am a 24 year old male who will be completing rehab soon. I have been applying for jobs and hope to get one soon when I get out. In the interim, can I receive help from DSS?
A) Yes, you may be eligible for help from the Department of Social Services (DSS) in the interim between completing rehab and finding a job. DSS provides a variety of services to help people who are struggling financially, including:
- Food stamps
- Medicaid
- Housing assistance
- Job training
- Childcare assistance
- Transportation assistance
- Utility assistance
- Financial counseling
To find out if you are eligible for help from DSS, you can contact your local DSS office. You can also find more information about DSS services on their website.
Here are some additional tips for getting help from DSS:
- Be prepared to provide documentation of your income and expenses.
- Be patient. It may take some time to get approved for assistance.
- Be persistent. Don’t give up if you are denied assistance at first.
I wish you the best of luck in your recovery and your job search.
