I applied for Medicaid, cannot get them to answer their telephone
Q) I am 61 years old. I applied for Medicaid over two weeks ago. I fax my information and also hand delivered it to Bibb county office on Oglethorpe street. I also have called the local DEFAC telephone number, all I ever get is a recording saying to call Atlanta 1877-4234746 number, that number says to call the local office. I cannot get anyone any where to answer their telephone to get help. Every where I call it tells me to call other number. Is there anyone anywhere in Georgia that can help me.
A) I understand your frustration. It can be very difficult to get through to someone when you need help with a government program. I’m here to help you find someone who can help you with your Medicaid application.
Here are a few things you can do:
- Try calling the Atlanta number again. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get through to someone. If you call early in the morning or late at night, you may have better luck getting through.
- Go to the Bibb County office in person. This is often the best way to get help with a government program. The staff at the office will be able to answer your questions and help you with your application.
- Contact your state representative or senator. Your elected officials can help you get in touch with someone who can help you with your Medicaid application.
- Contact the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH). The DCH is the agency that administers Medicaid in Georgia. You can contact them at 1-877-423-4746.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
